So, what is a Miracle Field, and why are they necessary? Ever try to push a wheelchair across a wet lawn, or watch a child with crutches try to run in mud? These are the problems faced when a disabled person trys to particiapte in a baseball game, natural fields just aren't friendly to the disabled.
A Miracle League field overcomes these difficulties by replacing the natural field with a well-drained artificial surface. One that is soft enough to cushion falls, but sturdy enough to support wheelchairs, while allowing others to run without concerns about ankle strains.
Additionally, Miracle Fields provide other types of activities for the disabled (and non-disabled as well), such as playgrounds. This allows disabled children to enjoy the activities that normal kids take for granted.
But Miracle Fields aren't cheap (imagine the cost of an artificial turf field for any pro-baseball team). And this is where we could use your generosity and support. Contributions can be made through the Murrysville-Export Rotary Club, or directly to Friends-to-Friends. All contributions are tax deductible.
